Capitalists, knowing they have corporatocracy governments and their soldiers to back them up, insist on owning everything. How they look after the world they’ve captured isn’t impressive.

Democracy Now!

A daily TV/radio news program, hosted by Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, airing on over 800 stations, pioneering the largest community media collaboration in the U.S..

Soon, The corporate-owned media will show rioting Haitians and spin that footage so as to further the interests of corporations, the odd mainstream media report that is honest notwithstanding. Soon, Most of your neighbors, o reader, won’t care when they learn that policies that are against the interests of Haitians are being implemented by your – our – leaders, aided and supported by propaganda, because they will ‘believe’ that the right and just things are being done. One proposal that has been floated, as reported by Anthony Fenton on his Web Of Democracy website (Haiti Crisis Jan 23rd: calls for and steps toward U.S./Canada-led protectorate proceed apace), is to make Haiti a protectorate of the United States. That would formalize an already existing situation, where the U.S. already does with and to Haiti what it wants.

Haitians need, more than anything, for others to care, because when people care that means that they bother to notice. But you can’t force people to care. Caring means knowing. North Americans, but not only North Americans, are too busy spending (when they have money), making money (which requires too much effort and time), sucking up propaganda (because elites can’t just beat free people over their heads – to keep them out of sight and out of mind and busy working for others – like the Chinese ruling class), to care and know or notice. And when you don’t know, You don’t even know you don’t know. Someone trying to wake up (politicize, motivate to fight for justice) someone asleep is facing an all but impossible task. You are reading this, so you may or may not be awake. You may or may not care.
