An excerpt from the above linked-to article, by Ellen Nakashima (Washington Post lol), follows:
Obama administration officials on Wednesday faced deepening political skepticism over a far-reaching counterterrorism program that collects millions of Americans’ phone records, even as they released newly declassified documents in an attempt to spotlight privacy safeguards.
The previously secret materials — a court order and reports to Congress — were released by director of national intelligence James Clapper as a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing opened Wednesday morning in which lawmakers sharply questioned the efficacy of the collection of bulk phone records. A senior National Security Agency official conceded the surveillance effort was the primary tool in thwarting only one plot — not the dozens that officials had previously suggested.

My online responses to the top of post linked-to article. I only posted the main one initially. The second time around I threw in a second post explaining the Star’s behavior. It was immediately accepted. The main post just would not appear. And now I see that my efficiency is no match for gatekeepers’ resources. I can’t ‘paste’ disappeared posts into the comment fields attached to Toronto Star articles, which is new. I’ve never had a problem pasting into those fields before. We are being herded. The top post will be my main (disappeared/ delayed or disappeared) post. The bottom post will be the secondary, explanatory post, which the Star, ever full of attitude, did accept:
*The Star has delayed or disappeared this post.
Terrorists and criminals – banksters, murderous ‘kings’, compliant media, police, judges, generals, corporations – run the world. For now, it’s permitted. They’re free, to a great extent, to commit crimes, including unspeakable crimes. How do you fight that? However, As much as they like to believe that they enjoy impunity, they don’t. Nor does it matter whether they learn that fact. Justice, which will come from a higher Source that the Benefactors in power can’t afford to believe in, matters. Is there any other explanation for their crime spree? Stealing knowledge because you’ve told yourself that [you’re] God and must have knowledge like God doesn’t make it so. That’s one part of their record. God hasn’t written them off for a mere invasion of privacy. Unlike Bradley M, these knowledge thieves destroy. For now we must endure their showy display of power, which stems from a need to test God. If he isn’t there, then they’re safe. They think
The Star disappears posts by some of us. I sometimes re-post. I also sometimes decide to blog about my disappeared posts (People should SEE what the Star thinks), necessitating my having a copy of what I’m trying to say. And I will simply paste my copy into the comment field in an effort to have it accepted. It looks like pasting is now disallowed here. Way to go US army/Toronto Star! The Star, a fake friend of the people, a few decent journos attached to it notwithstanding, has this attitude: “US military blocks entire Guardian website for troops stationed abroad.” See: http://bit.ly/1cixFg8. I’m TRYING to say that invading our – the world’s – privacy is simply not the only very rotten thing that the US admin is doing.
“Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him because everything in the world – the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life – does not originate with Father, but originates with the world. Furthermore, The world is passing away and so is it’s desire, but he who does the will of God remains forever.” – 1 John 2:15-17
One wonders about some of what John says there. My view? If it’s a truly inspired statement, then the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes isn’t the threatening thing it appears to be. We ‘are’ flesh. We ‘have’ eyes. The concern must be with how we desire. We can be spiritual, or thoughtful and caring, about how we go about doing things. Or we can be physical, by which I mean ‘not’ spiritual. The showy display of one’s means of life, or survival, is straightforward and not problematic. People like Barack Obama and Stephen Harper are all about power tripping.
“Now this is the basis for judgment, namely that the light has come into the world but men have loved the darkness rather than the light, for their works were wicked. For he who practices vile things hates the light and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be reproved. But he who does what is true comes to the light in order that his works may be made manifest as having been worked in harmony with God.” – John 3:19-21
“And so the chief priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching. Jesus answered him: I have spoken to the world publicly. I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together and I spoke nothing in secret. Why do you question me? Question those who have heard what I spoke to them. See! These know what I said.” After he said these things, one of the officers who was standing by gave Jesus a slap in the face and said: “Is that the way you answer the chief priest?” Jesus answered him: “If I spoke wrongly, bear witness concerning the wrong, but if rightly, Why do you hit me?”” – John 18:19-23
What’s your answer Obama et al?
