The Ruined Rule

“Ontario has given Doug Ford carte blanche to do virtually anything he wants” by Thomas Walkom (Toronto Star)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

=== =
Some of the former Toronto councillor’s pledges are known.

He has promised, for instance, to pull out of the California-Quebec cap and trade system that Wynne’s government joined in order to fight climate change.

And he has promised tax cuts for big and small business as well as middle and upper income individuals…

Christine Elliott, a former leadership rival who is expected to be one of the key figures in a Ford cabinet, has already said that any review would take a close look at health-care spending, where she said billions are being squandered.

Ford’s victory also spells the beginning of the end of Ontario’s controversial infatuation with renewable energy. The PC leader has said he won’t sign any more wind and solar contracts and will try to renegotiate those that already exist…

The Tories have said they will scupper plans to raise the minimum wage from $14 to $15 per hour next January.

They have also signalled plans to axe regulations that interfere with business profitability. They will argue that this is the mandate Ontarians have given them.

The Vile CFR Says People Need Propaganda

“The Council On Foreign Relations Says Domestic Propaganda Is Necessary” by Tyler Durden (Zerohedge)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

One year ago, a State Department press event included quite possibly the most epic “deer in the headlights” moment in all of government press briefing history.

During the final press briefing in May of 2017, the State Department put high level official Stuart Jones at the podium to give the daily briefing, and he was asked how the US could call for democracy in Iran while ignoring the fact that one of Washington’s closest Middle East allies is an oppressive autocratic state with an opaque legal system run by strict Islamic sharia courts…

As Wide Asleep in America blog so aptly described: “In lieu of delivering an actual answer, Jones became visibly uncomfortable, signed audibly, stared blindly into nothingness and said nothing for roughly 18 seconds…

But on a more serious note, about six months after Stuart Jones’ internal meltdown moment, a leaked State Department memo obtained by Politico spelled out how Washington merely values the concept of human rights insofar as it can be molded toward propaganda ends…

More recently, one year after the incredible and embarrassing State Department scene, the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has delivered an even more astounding propaganda fail which went largely unnoticed in the media…

The CFR’s Richard Stengel, a former editor of TIME magazine, told an audience at a CFR event in late April called Political Disruptions: Combating Disinformation and Fake News that governments “have to” direct “propaganda” toward their own populations.

Ruined, like the Nazis in Israel

“Violent Anti-Semitism Is Gripping Ukraine — And The Government Is Standing Idly By” by Lev Golinkin (Forward)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

A wave of anti-Semitism has swept over Ukraine. In the past three weeks alone, a far-right leader publicly called for cleansing Ukraine of zhidi (a slur equivalent to “kike”); a Holocaust memorial in Ternopil was bombed; hundreds marched through Lviv, in honor of an SS unit, complete with Nazi salutes; “Death to Zhidi” graffiti was scrawled in two cities; a revered rabbi’s tomb was vandalized; a Romani camp in Kiev was attacked and burned by far-right nationalists, and hundreds rocked out at a neo-Nazi concert clad in swastikas and throwing up Nazi salutes.

“State Department Restarts Funding the White Helmets” by Jim Carey (Geopolitics Alert)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Whoever influenced Trump to restart the funding also had another ally on their side: “the international community.”

If someone in favor of the White Helmets in the Trump regime was waiting for a perfect time to propose aiding them again, yesterday’s report by the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons‘ (OPCW) played a large part in the decision. The OPCW’s report alleges that the organization had confirmed the use of sarin gas in Syria in April, which the White Helmets “specialize” in responding too.

So, ignoring the fact that the White Helmets are always the first to respond to gas attacks because they’re the ones who stage them, you could see why someone who doesn’t know any better, like Trump, would think reinstating funding is a good idea.

However, this is obviously a terrible idea and unfreezing these funds is basically Washington sending money to al Qaeda through a front group.

From Mondoweiss:
Miki Zohar, member of Knesset, Likud

“Israeli lawmaker: ‘Jewish race is the greatest human capital, the smartest’” by Jonathan Ofir (Mondoweiss)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

There are certain racist expressions that you’re not supposed to use, even in Israel. One of them is referring to Jews as a “race”. Even if you’re speaking favorably about Jews. But a rightwing lawmaker did that the other day.

“The whole Jewish race is the greatest human capital, and the smartest and the most understanding,” Miki Zohar said Wednesday. The member of Knesset for Likud was debating the Benjamin Netanyahu corruption scandals together with Haaretz journalist Dan Margalit, on the 103 FM radio station (owned by the centrist Maariv daily).

Here Miki Zohar went into unabashed race-supremacist talk about Jews. He literally referred to it as the Jewish race (not nation or people). The Hebrew term he used is “GEZA”. It’s the literal parallel of ‘race’ in English, no doubt there.

“Ali is on the grill!’ Israeli settlers celebrate burning of Palestinian baby” by Jonathan Ofir (Mondoweiss)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

There’s something particularly disturbing about celebrating the burning alive of a baby.

This is precisely what Israeli Jewish settlers were doing yesterday, outside the court in Lod. “’Ali was burned, where is Ali? Ali is on the grill!”, they chanted, in reference to the 18-month old baby Ali Dawbsheh, who was burnt alive by Jewish terrorists in the West Bank town of Duma in 2015. Ali’s mother Riham and father Saad died of their wounds a few weeks later. Of the family of four, only 5-year-old Ahmad survived the arson with severe burns.

The terror-supporters were actually taunting Ali’s grandfather, Hussein Dawabshe, who was attending a preliminary hearing at which the court decided to indict one adult suspect who confessed to the murders, as well as a minor who was an accomplice. Hussein was accompanied by Palestinian-Israeli lawmakers Ayman Odeh and Ahmed Tibi. Tibi posted the video of the chanting, with policemen standing by doing nothing, and wrote:

“Where’s Ali? There’s no Ali. Ali is burned. On the fire. Ali is on the grill” – all this was thrown at our face – including at the grandfather Dawbsheh concerning his 18-month-old grandson by the riff raff of ‘price tag’. In front of us stood policemen and officers and did nothing. No words…

Jon Lansman

“Mr. Lansman comes to Tel Aviv: Jeremy Corbyn’s senior ally wants to restrict free speech on Israel” by Ofer Neiman (Mondoweiss)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

On June 21, Jon Lansman, chair of Momentum (UK) and senior member of the UK Labour Party, will deliver a lecture in Tel Aviv on ‘Corbyn, Labour and Israel-Palestine’. The event will take place at the office of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, affiliated with the German Die Linke (‘The Left’) party. The invitation poster features the logos of the UK Labour Party, Momentum and Standing Together (Hebrew – Omdim BeYahchad)), an Israeli NGO supported by the New Israel Fund.

If this tripartite alliance seems encouraging to supporters of the Palestinian cause, the impression is probably mistaken…

Unfortunately, strong elements within the UK Labour Party also stand on Israel’s side. While solidarity with the Palestinian people runs deep in the party, especially among grassroots activists and trade unions, a powerful sector of Labour supports Israel. The Labour Friends of Israel (LFI) caucus has recently defended Israel’s mass-killing and injuring of Palestinian civilians in Gaza. Israel’s supporters within the party have also participated in a witch hunt against dedicated Labour activists who stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, with the strategic goal of toppling Corbyn. Many of these activists have been persecuted and even expelled in a McCarthyite manner. In addition to Labour Friends of Israel, the astroturf, faux-socialist Jewish Labour Movement (JLM) campaigns “to support labour values within the UK, Israel and Internationally”, but has very little beyond support for Israel on its mind. Both LFI and JLM have strong ties with the Israeli Labour Party, which supports racism and militarism against the Palestinian people, and has suspended its ties with Jeremy Corbyn, accusing him of “enabling anti-Semitism”. This brazen lie does not seem to embarrass Israel’s UK Labour supporters.

In order to promote a Labour victory under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn, a left-wing organization named Momentum was established in 2015. Jon Lansman was its main founder. One would expect Momentum to consistently stand up to the Israel lobby, support free speech on Zionism and Israel’s occupation and apartheid, and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Many members of Momentum have done just that. Lansman is not one of them. A primary example is the case of Jackie Walker, a veteran black Jewish Labour activist and a consistent critic of Zionism and all forms of racism. Walker has been exposed to extreme hatred, sexism and racism, mostly due to her criticism of Zionism. She was suspended from the party in April 2016 and also removed from her vice-chair post in Momentum after a witch-hunt in which Lansman himself took part.

The Momentum leader has played an active role in the silencing of numerous critical voices within the Labour Party, a policy opposed by many in the organization. Moreover, Lansman has argued that use of the word ‘Zionist’ among Labour supporters must come to an end. This begs the simple question posed by the Free Speech on Israel campaign:

“So who do we blame for the 1948 Nakba and the 1967 mass expulsions less well known as the Naksa, which shaped today’s map? Surely not Israeli fundamentalists who were yet to come, and certainly not Netanyahu who was yet to come and will one day be gone”.

Lansman’s implied defense of Zionism, his opposition to BDS and his acceptance of the lie that there is rampant anti-Semitism within the Labour Party, have been happily endorsed by the Jewish Labour Movement.

Jeremy Corbyn is faker. John Pilger and Barbara McKenzie have given us good reasons for believing that to be the case. In this situation, Why is Corbyn not acting? Is Jon Lansman still an ally of Corbyn? Is Corbyn still an ally of Jon Lansman? *edit, July 5, 2018 – I came across a WSWS article about faker Corbyn today. If you still have doubts about Corbyn’s lack of integrity after reading this, I can’t help you: “UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn hails Alexis Tsipras of Syriza” by Robert Stevens

FEMA US Homeland Security Form

“FOIA Request Reveals FEMA’s Egregious Million Dollar Spending On A Floating Hotel … As Hurricane Victims Suffered” by Aaron Kesel (Activist Post)

An excerpt from the above linked-to post follows:

A FOIA request tipped off to Activist Post revealed a $74.7 million contract with Carnival Corporation, a cruise liner to host aid workers and first responders in the U.S. Virgin Islands on a “floatable hotel” after hurricanes Irma and Maria last year. Meanwhile, reported in the same week, a Harvard study revealed the death toll after hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico was almost 5,000 people.

The company failed to host less than half the workers it agreed to and was paid far more money during the contract than the victims of the storm were given to rebuild their houses…

Outrageous overspending is something that has been known about in government for a long time, made famous with the knowledge of the existence of $37 screws, a $7,622 coffee maker, $640 toilet seats in jets, as LA Times reported in 1986.

The public was so outraged over the high prices on parts that both chambers of Congress passed an unprecedented one-year defense budget freeze in the mid-1980s, in the middle of the Cold War, and under President Ronald Reagan, Truthout reported.

That investigation revealed that overpriced hammers and coffee brewers were priced by the same bloated formulas used for purchasing weapons. As Air Force whistleblower Ernest Fitzgerald said at the time, “Those Air Forces planes you see flying in the sky are actually overpriced spare parts flying in close formation.”

Well, in this case, those cruise liners you see used for storm relief? They are actually overpriced floating hotels that FEMA utilized, paying more to the company for their occupancy than to the deserving victims.

“Shock Report Reveals Pentagon & HUD ‘Lost’ $21 TRILLION—Enough to Pay Back Nat’l Debt” by Jay Syrmopoulos (The Free Thought Project)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Washington, D.C. – A new report analyzing the budgets of both the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), found that between 1998 and 2015, these two departments alone lost over $21 trillion in taxpayer funds.

The shocking report was authored by Dr. Mark Skidmore, a professor of economics at Michigan State University, and Catherine Austin Fitts, former assistant secretary of housing. It notes that the missing funds are a direct result of “unsupported journal voucher adjustments” made to the departments’ budgets…

In an interview with USA Watchdog, co-author Fitts noted that the missing $21 trillion amounts to “$65,000 for every man, woman and child resident in America.”

The amount of money unaccounted for is enough to pay back the whole of the U.S. national debt, which currently stands at roughly $20.5 trillion, and still have a half a trillion left.
