Lawlessness / Ruined – part 26

“Australia and its Israel Embassy: What are they Thinking?” by James O’Neill (Off Guardian)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

ccording to recent media reports, the Liberal candidate in the Wentworth (Sydney) by-election, former diplomat David Sharma said he “was open” to the idea that Australia’s embassy in Israel could be shifted from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In a separate tweet he went further and said Australia “should consider recognising Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The ostensible reason is that it would be following the lead of the United States…

It is possible that both Sharma and [Prime Minister Scott] Morrison have timed their statements to coincide with the by-election by making a pitch for the Jewish vote in that electorate…

More likely, it is yet another example of Australia blindly following the United States in adopting a policy that is clearly in breach of international law. The Guardian and other mainstream media outlets have noted that the American policy has thus far only been followed by Guatemala. No mainstream media outlet has raised the issue of such a policy being in breach of international law. The special status of Jerusalem has been completely ignored.

“On Naval Blockades and A Hard Days War” by Christopher Black (New Eastern Outlook)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

On the 22nd of October 1962 the US 2nd Fleet began the blockade of Cuba, an action that immediately threatened the world with nuclear war and annihilation…

The blockade’s objective was to force the USSR to withdraw nuclear weapons from Cuba that it had placed there in order to guarantee Cuba’s security from American attack…

But today the US leadership is threatening another blockade, this time of Russia, as well as threatening pre-emptive strikes to neutralise Russian cruise missiles, not located in Cuba, but in Russia itself…

But then NATO has risked starting world war before, first with the Cuba Crisis, then when they attacked Yugoslavia in 1999 and, by trying to kill the Chinese Ambassador in the process, attacked China as well. They even brag about it. The Mr. Goebbels of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, in Belgrade a few days ago, told university students that they were bombed for their own good, so ipso facto any bombing NATO does of anyone is therefore for their own good, and therefore “necessary.” The megalomania is astounding.

“US Blames Iran For Impoverishing Civilians While Prepping Further Sanctions” by Caitlin Johnstone (Rogue Journalist)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

The United States government is preparing to implement an additional level of sanctions against Iran for its refusal to meet a dozen demands that are so absurdly unreasonable that they have been called a regime change policy in all but name. The sanctions which have already been implemented have already badly hurt the Iranian economy, the sting of which is being felt first and foremost by Iran’s poor and sickly…

And who is the US government blaming for the consequences of its economic warfare? Why, the Iranian government, of course.

“Opinion: Where Does The Latest Social Media Purge Leave The State Of Social Discourse?” by Elizabeth Vos (Disobedient Media)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Disobedient Media previously reported the tightening stranglehold of censorship across social media. Unfortunately, events that have taken place since the publication of this writer’s opinion that Julian Assange was the first domino to fall in a series of increasingly draconian censorship measures have far exceeded even this author’s worst expectations…

Before we discuss the details of the latest social media purge, though, we ask: Is the unabashed, coordinated censorship of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platforms an illegal affront to freedom of speech?

In the case of Twitter, at least, we do appear to have an affirmative answer to the question. As CNBC reported earlier this year, a Federal judge ruled that Donald Trump could not legally block Twitter users. The judgment in effect defined the platform as a “public forum” which may be regulated by government to defend First Amendment-protected free speech…

The focus of the latest Twitter and Facebook purge of domestic, politically oriented content raises the specter of silencing of dissent that, at least in theory, should enjoy First Amendment protection.

Even worse, the banned accounts were often provided with little or no description of their alleged infractions in Twitter’s notice of suspension…

Notably, the social media purge targeted both left-wing and right-wing pages. This suggests that the bans were not so much based on political bias, but instead stemmed from the establishment’s overwhelming paranoia towards the success of all varieties of anti-establishment news and discussion. The efforts seemed geared less towards supporting a particular political side ahead of midterms, than it was geared towards protecting the overall status-quo.

“Nation Transfixed In Horror By Toy Bombs While Destroying Lives With Real Ones” by Caitlin Johnstone (Rogue Journalist)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Media headlines have been dominated for the last two days by the news that pipe bombs are being sent to Democratic Party elites and their allies, a list of whom as of this writing consists of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, George Soros, Maxine Waters, Eric Holder, Robert De Niro, and the CNN office (addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan who actually works for NBC). As of this writing nobody has been killed or injured in any way by any of these many explosive devices, and there is as of this writing no publicly available evidence that they were designed to. As of this writing there is no evidence that the devices were intended to do anything other than what they have done: stir up fear and grab headlines…

…It is a good thing that none of America’s political elites were targeted by the sort of explosive device that America drops on people in other countries every single day. You know, the kind that actually explode.

Dead Carp from ruined governance in Iraq

“Environmental Disaster: Hundreds of Thousands of Carp Fish Die in Iraq” by Marwa Osman (American Herald Tribune)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Fishermen, fishpond owners and local residents in Babylon province, south of Baghdad, are in shock as hundreds of thousands of carp fish suddenly died in the Middle Euphrates. This distressing news comes after a major water pollution had already had its toll on Iraq once this year, as around 100,000 people were hospitalized this past summer in the southern city of Basra…

Adel Fakhir published a piece in Arabic about the issue for the Iraqi AenaNews, where he spoke with Dr. Ramadan Hamza Mohammad who is a senior Water Strategy and Policy Expert in Iraq. Dr. Ramadan Mohammad suggested that “the reasons for the death of fish in the Euphrates River are attributed first to the Biological Oxygen Demand BOD because of the lack of water discharges from Turkey and Syria. Then there is the issue of the increased waste dumping in the river, resulting in suffocation of the fish as a result of the process (Eutrophication), and a third reason to the poisoning would be an increase in the proportion of dissolved total salts.”…

According to a statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture, the main causes of the death of large quantities of fish is the low levels of water in the Tigris and Euphrates and the lack of water revenues from Turkey, in addition to what is thrown in the two rivers of industrial and domestic pollutants. Non-compliance with environmental controls and determinants through the presence of large numbers of transgressors of fish with floating cages is also determined to affect this sudden surge of fish deaths.

The ministerial committee recommended removing all transgressors from unregulated floating fish and removing dead fish in rivers, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and affected Governorates, as well as obliging farmers to comply with environmental controls and regulations.

“This is a defining moment for the Justin Trudeau government” by ? (

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

On Monday, 22 October we posted a blog on the brutal Khashoggi murder and the need for Canada to finally stop any further shipments of arms to Saudi Arabia. We updated the situation in our Rideau blog on Tuesday, 23 October.

Since then the Prime Minister of Canada has continued to vacillate between asserting Canada’s power to suspend any further shipments, without incurring financial penalties, and the opposite — that cancellation of the contract will cost us “billions”.

“White Helmets Hiring Locals for Staged Chemical Attacks, Paying in Food – MoD” by ? (Sputnik via Muraselon)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Militants in several Syrian regions including Aleppo are engaged in planning provocations involving the use of chemical weapons including chlorine, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said, citing information provided by the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria.

“We have repeatedly informed the public about attempts by radical militants and the White Helmets, notorious for their fakes, to organize provocations using chemical agents and accusing government forces of using chemical weapons against the local population,” Konashenkov noted, speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to the spokesman, on October 27, the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria received information from locals that terrorists from the Islamic Party of Turkestan had transferred twenty 10 liter containers of chlorine for use in false flag attacks in Maarrat al-Nu’man, a city in Idlib province, northwest Syria.

These weapons were unloaded at Kafr Nabl and Al-Hawash, two nearby towns, according to eyewitnesses…

“Latin America Returns to Washington’s Fold – and to Fascism” by Peter Koenig (Mint Press News)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Latin America is re-converting into Washington’s backyard and as a sideline is returning to fascist rule, similar but worse than the sixties seventies and eighties, which stood under the spell of the CIA-led Operation of Plan Condor. Many call the current right-wing trend Operation Condor II which is probably as close to the truth as can be. It is all Washington / CIA fabricated, just with more rigor and more sophistication than Plan Condor of 40 and 50 years ago. As much as it hurts to say, after all the glory and laurels sent out to Latin America – with Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Rafael Correa, Evo Morales, Lula, the Kirchners, José Mujica, Michelle Bachelet – more than 80% of the population of Latin America were living for some 15 to 20 years under democratically elected mostly left-leaning governments, really progressive. – Within no time, in less than 3 years the wheels have turned.

Peter’s observations are good, although I have one quibble. His take on Operation Condor is too simplistic. See my blog post titled “Condor World.”

“Leaked U.N. Memo Reveals Saudis Demanded Western Propaganda For $1bn Pledged To Aid Agency” by Tyler Durden (ZeroHedge)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

We wonder if the Saudis had never been caught in Jamal Khashoggi’s gruesome murder, would such essential stories and leaks now happening such as the below Guardian report ever see the light of day? On Tuesday The Guardian published select contents of a leaked internal United Nations document detailing a “pay to play” scheme orchestrated by Saudi Arabia.

According to the leaked document, the Saudis demanded that aid groups and humanitarian agencies operating in Yemen provide favorable publicity for Saudi Arabia in return for Riyadh providing close to a billion dollars to fund their efforts…
