“US Sanctions Have Become Little More Than Medieval-Style Siege Warfare” by Thierry Meyssan (Mint Press News)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

(o
The new unilateral sanctions by the United States against Iran, Russia and Syria add to the previous actions concerning the same three targets. They now form the most unforgiving embargo in History. The way in which they have been organized is illegal according to the definition of the Charter of the United Nations – these are weapons of war, designed for killing.

“Saudi $$, Trump Arm-Twisting Fail to Stop Bill to End US Military Support for Saudis’ Yemen War” by Whitney Webb (Mint Press News)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

====:-
WASHINGTON — At least five of the 37 Republican senators who voted against ending U.S. military support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen received campaign contributions from lobbying groups working on behalf of the Saudi monarchy in 2016 and 2017, according to a recent report published by the Center for International Policy (CIP)…

Republican senators are hardly the only politicians to have received campaign contributions Saudi-paid lobbyists. As the report notes, political contributions from Saudi-linked firms were bipartisan, with the greatest campaign contributions between 2016 and 2017 going to Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign.

“Mind The Chemtrails: New Study Calls For Global “Stratospheric Aerosol Injection” By 2030s” by Tyler Durden (ZeroHedge)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

A fleet of aircraft injecting sulfates into the lower stratosphere could help protect the world from climate change. Well, that is according to a peer-reviewed paper published Nov. 23 in the journal Environmental Research Letters by researchers from Harvard and Yale universities…

The American Meteorological Society (AMS) expressed great concern about the project, which said, “reflecting sunlight would likely reduce Earth’s average temperature but could also change global circulation patterns with potentially serious consequences such as changing storm tracks and precipitation patterns.”

In other words, screwing with the mother nature might have unintended consequences and likely trigger a new set of problems.

“Homeland Security creates exclusive “Platinum” spy on your neighbors cam-share club” by ? (MassPrivatel)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

Looking for that special gift for your family this holiday season? Why not signup for Homeland Security’s “Platinum” spy on your neighbors cam-share club.

According to an article in the Advocate, DHS and New Orleans law enforcement have just created a “platinum” spying program that encourages homeowners and business owners to spy on everyone in real-time.

“The New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation’s SafeCam NOLA program, which allows residents to register their cameras with NOPD, recently launched its “platinum” program that connects cameras to the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC). The program debuted in October, and its public launch is among 2019 budget priorities with the city’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, along with the other surveillance camera expansions.”

“Exposing the Israel Lobby Groups Behind the “Political Lynching” of Marc Lamont Hill” by Whitney Webb (Mint Press News)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

:-
PHILADELPHIA – After his UN Speech marking the International Day of Solidarity with Palestine last week was twisted so as to smear him as an anti-Semite, Marc Lamont Hill was subjected to a “political lynching” that saw him fired from his role as a political commentator on CNN and will now see Temple University — his other employer — investigate whether and how to reprimand him for his statements.

During his speech, Hill had called for solidarity with Palestinians and drew on the history of African Americans’ struggle against slavery and apartheid in the United States as an inspiration for the solidarity. Hill then noted that “if we are to operate in true solidarity with Palestinian people, we must allow the Palestinian people the same range of opportunity and political possibility” that were afforded African Americans, including “self-defense” and other tactics that do not fit neatly with “non-violence.”…

Notably, many of the strongest voices that have been calling for Hill to be fired first from CNN and now from Temple University have close ties to the Israeli government, top U.S. Israel lobby organizations, or pro-Israel stalwarts with ties to the U.S. political establishment.

Trouble at Temple

Last Friday, the Philadelphia Inquirer published an article in which it noted that one of the people pushing for Hill to be fired from Temple University was Leonard Barrack, who was described as a “Temple trustee and major donor to the university.” Barrack, who is also a Temple alumnus and former finance chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), was quoted as saying that “He [Hill] called for the destruction of the State of Israel in code words. I am very upset about it. I think it was anti-Semitic.”…

However, the article fails to note that Leonard Barrack is also former president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, which regularly hosts events in Philadelphia with American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), arguably the most influential Israel lobby group in the U.S., and StandWithUs, an Israel lobby group whose activities on U.S. college campuses were exposed in a recently leaked documentary.

“In name of fighting fascism, ISO promotes class collaboration and Democratic Party” by Kayla Costa (WSWS)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

(=-
Many workers and youth have been rightfully appalled by the rise of far-right political organizations and forces around the world…

In the wake of these events, along with the midterm election results on November 6, the International Socialist Organization (ISO) in the United States published a statement on November 7 with the headline: “A call to unite and fight the far-right menace! ISO statement on building a new, anti-fascist united front.”

The statement advances a perspective for leading working people and youth looking for a way to fight the rise of far-right forces into the dead end of subordination to those sections of the ruling class represented by the Democratic Party. Far from a formula for defeating the far-right, it follows a well-worn path of class collaboration and “popular front”-style politics that historically has led to bloody defeats of the working class and the victory of right-wing forces from the 1930s to the present.

Perhaps most revealing is what the statement does not say. The reader will search in vain for the following words: capitalism, socialism, class, working class, Democratic Party. There is no serious political analysis.

“France minister refuses to present Al-Haq, B’Tselem award” by ? (MEMO)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

(-
The French justice minister has refused to present a prestigious human rights award to Palestinian and Israeli human rights organisations Al-Haq and B’Tselem after being pressured by a French-Jewish organisation.

Nicole Belloubet was supposed to present Al-Haq and B’Tselem with the Human Rights Awards of the French Republic this evening, after the organisations were among five laureates conferred the prestigious prize. The ceremony will take place at the Ministry of Justice in the French capital Paris, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Yet Belloubet has refused to present the award after receiving a letter from Francis Kalifat, the president of CRIF (Representative Council of the Jewish Institutions of France). CRIF acts as an umbrella of French-Jewish organisations and has regularly lobbied France to support Israeli positions.

“UK Commits Extra Military Forces to Ukraine: Irresponsible Policy, Dangerous Repercussions” by Arkady Savitsky (Strategic Culture Foundation)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

[—
Ukraine’s Constitutional Court green-lighted a bill on amending the country’s main law by enshrining into it the final goal of obtaining NATO and EU membership. The decision was announced the next day after the UK and Ukraine’s defense ministries made a joint statement, stressing the need to expand military cooperation. The defense chiefs agreed that Operation Orbital, the Army training program started in 2015, was a success to be continued at least till 2020. Instructors from the British Army, most of who have significant experience in participating in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, have trained over 9,500 Ukrainian servicemen. An unspecified number of UK soldiers would be sent to train Ukrainian special forces and marines, in addition to the 100 personnel deployed currently in the country….

The increase in UK military presence goes against the letter and spirit of Minsk accords, which state that the conflict in Ukraine should be managed through diplomatic and political means.

The US military already runs a maritime operations center located within Ukraine’s Ochakov naval facility designed to deliver flexible maritime support throughout the full range of military operations. Hundreds of US and Canadian military instructors are training Ukrainian personnel at the Yavoriv firing range. The US is to transfer two Oliver Hazard Perry-type frigates to Ukraine. The move will actually ensure constant NATO naval presence in the Black Sea going around the restrictions imposed by the Montreux Convention because the vessels will have America sailors onboard carrying out “training missions” and remain under US command, despite official sources saying otherwise.

“The Return of the Nicaraguan Contras, and the Rise of the Pro-Contra Left” by Daniel Kovalik (American Herald Tribune)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

(((
According to our nation’s paper of record, the New York Times, the Nicaraguan Contras re-activated some time ago in order to take on their old foe, Daniel Ortega, who had been re-elected in 2007 after a long hiatus of 17 years. One may recall that it was the pressure of the Contras, and their brutal terrorist tactics, which were critical to unseating Ortega from office the first time back in 1990.

Just as a refresher, the Contras (short for “counterrevolutionaries”) were made up largely of the National Guardsmen of the US-backed dictator, Anastasio Somoza. After the successful 1979 revolution against Somoza – a revolution led by Ortega and the FSLN (or, Sandinistas) — the CIA organized the Guardsmen into the Contras and trained, armed and directed them for the purpose of undermining the fledgling Sandinista government…

In this same article, the Times acknowledges that “Mr. Ortega enjoys strong support among the poor . . . .” And of course, this makes absolute sense given Ortega’s enlightened social policies…

This very sort of attack against Sandinista rank and file members was played out time and again over this past summer during the three-month-long crisis which received significant media attention. Indeed, when I was in Managua this past July for the anniversary of the Sandinista Revolution, I was told that, contrary to traditional practice, there would not be buses sent to Managua from other parts of the country for the celebration for fear of such attacks.

And yet, while the mainstream press covered the crisis in Nicaragua this past summer with rapt attention, and while Tim Rogers himself published a number of pieces in the mainstream press about it, there was not one whisper about the rearmed Contras, nor was there coverage of the regular assaults against Sandinista rank and file – attacks which included torture, rape and murder. Instead, we were told by the mainstream press, and by most of the “left-wing” press as well, only of peaceful protesters being attacked by an allegedly repressive Sandinista government.
