Lawlessness / Ruined – part 31

“A World of Multiple Detonators of Global Wars” by James Petras (Axis of Logic)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

In our times the US is the principal power in search of world domination through force and violence. Washington has targeted top level targets, namely China, Russia, and Iran; secondary objectives include Afghanistan, North and Central Africa, Caucasus, and Latin America.

China is the prime enemy of the US for several economic, political and military reasons: China is the second largest economy in the world; its technology has challenged US supremacy; it has built global economic networks reaching across three continents. China has replaced the US in overseas markets, investments and infrastructures. China has built an alternative socio-economic model which links state banks and planning to private sector priorities…

The US economic war has moved to a higher level by arresting and seizing a top executive of China’s foremost technological company, Huawei…

The White House has moved up the ladder of aggression from sanctions to provocation, it is one step from military retaliation. The nuclear fuse has been lit.

Russia faces similar threats to its domestic economy and its overseas allies, especially China and Iran. Moreover the US has broken its compliance with the intermediate nuclear missiles agreement.

Iran faces oil sanctions, military encirclement and attacks on proxy allies namely Yemen, Syria and the Gulf region. Washington relies on Saudi Arabia, Israel and their paramilitary groups to apply military and economic pressure to undermine Iran’s economy and impose a ‘regime change’…

The US has established 32 military bases in Africa, to coordinate activities with local warlords and plutocrats. Their proxy wars are described as local conflicts between ‘legitimate’ regimes and Islamic terrorists, tribalists and tyrants…

Notwithstanding the limits of US power and its failure to topple regimes, Washington has taken moves to compensate for its failures by escalating the threats of a global war. It kidnaps Chinese economic leaders; it moves war ships off China’s coast; it allies with neo-fascist elites in the Ukraine. It threatens to bomb Iran. In other words the US political leaders have embarked on adventurous policies always on the verge of igniting one, two, many nuclear fuses.

“The death of Jackeline Caal: A seven-year-old victim of Trump’s war on immigrants” by Patrick Martin (WSWS)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

==== == =
Seven-year-old Jackeline Caal died in the custody of the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) last week, the agency admitted Thursday. The child’s death was a direct consequence of the savage repression of immigrants by the Trump administration, which has intensified to the point where such deaths cannot be considered accidents. They are the inevitable and deliberate result of policies chosen to maximize the suffering and privation for refugees seeking asylum in the United States…

Caal’s father Nery told the CBP that she was ill and vomiting, but there were no medical personnel at the location. The detained immigrants were packed into two buses and taken on a 90-minute drive north, ending at a CBP facility in Lordsburg, New Mexico.

Once in Lordsburg, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), agents separated Caal from her father on the pretext that he did not have documents proving they were related. This is part of the deliberately cruel regime maintained along the border, aimed at intimidating refugees with the threat that their children will be taken away from them and never returned.

After the separation, Caal began having seizures. Local emergency media personnel were called and had to revive the child twice when she stopped breathing. They found she had a fever of 105.7 degrees. They had her airlifted to a hospital in El Paso, Texas, about 160 miles away. There she was treated for severe dehydration and lack of food, but died in the intensive care unit less than 24 hours later.

“Child Sex Slavery Ring Run by Former Israeli Soldier Dismantled by Colombian Police” by Whitney Webb (Mint Press News)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

MEDELLÍN, COLOMBIA — A large child sex slavery ring overseen by Israelis was dismantled by Colombian police earlier this week, in a story that has shocked Colombia and much of Latin America but received minimal coverage from mainstream Western media outlets. The network had been active since 2011 and expressly “recruited” young, underage females in situations of economic hardship or domestic abuse to work as “sex slaves” catering to Israeli tourists visiting Colombia…

“As West Bank violence continues, Netanyahu calls for settlement expansion, punitive demolition of Palestinian homes” by Yumna Patel (Mondoweiss)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

The ripple effects of Thursday’s outburst of violence in the occupied West Bank continued to be felt on Friday, as Palestinians woke up to news of more arrests, clashes, and plans of collective punishment by the Israeli government.

Between Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon, Israeli forces had shot and killed four Palestinians in separate incidents, while two Israeli soldiers were killed by a still unidentified Palestinian shooter, all in and around the central West Bank district of Ramallah…

According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS), Israeli forces detained 100 Palestinians in the predawn hours of Friday.

Among the detainees were a minor, a lawmaker, and a journalist.

PPS identified 49 out of 100 of the detainees, saying that 16 Palestinians were detained in the Hebron area, 10 in Bethlehem, 10 in Jerusalem, six in Ramallah, and seven in the Nablus area.

The majority of the detainees were young men in their late teens and twenties.
Israeli government response

On Thursday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that in response to the latest spate of Palestinian “terror attacks” on Israeli settlers and soldiers, the government would be authorizing thousands of the settler homes built illegally in the occupied West Bank, some of them decades ago…

Israeli settlements are considered illegal under international law, as they are built on Palestinian land occupied by Israel since 1967.

“How it feels to have a child in an uninhabitable place” by Sara Alberghawi (Mondoweiss)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

I just had my first baby, a boy named Khalil, last month. From the first moment I held my child in my arms, I was flushed with emotions. I was extremely happy and blessed, but also worried and confused.

At the time I became pregnant I had a good job with an international NGO in addition to my income as a freelance writer and translator, along with my husband’s salary. Yet three months before I gave birth, my contract was terminated. The U.S. funded project I was assigned to closed as a result of the Trump’s administration cut in aid to Gaza’s relief agencies.

Suddenly I found myself about to have a new baby without security for a decent future and life. When I thought of the coming year, I could not help but think of the UN report that warns my home in the Gaza Strip will be “uninhabitable” by 2020.

The image, above, makes me nuts. Arab men: LEAVE YOUR WOMEN ALONE!!!!! I absolutely hate to see women forced to dress a certain way for no reason other than a fear of what others in your community might say if you don’t follow (ridiculous) customs. Something’s very wrong. Oppression is never right, no matter how small or great or from what source. Also, Others reading the above article probably have the same thought about it that I do. What are you doing, my dear, having children in those hellish conditions?!! The time to care about the catastrophe, especially one that you can see coming, is ‘before’ it happens, not after.

With that out of my system, Who can’t sympathize with the young parents? Obviously, Those who align with the powerful – Nazi America and Nazi Israel – will choose not to. But if you aren’t self-modified and are still human, you will sympathize with Sara fully.

“Iran Hawks Take Aim at Iran’s Charitable Organizations” by Robert Fantina (American Herald Tribune)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

In May of this year, the United States violated an international agreement made with Russia, China, France, Germany, the European Union and Iran when it withdrew from the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action). The thrust of this agreement, which was certified by the United Nations, regulated Iran’s nuclear development program in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions against that country.

The U.S. had included domestically that the president must certify to Congress every six months that Iran was in compliance, based on the findings of U.N. inspectors. During the last year of Barack Obama’s presidency, he advised Congress officially that Iran was in compliance.

During President Donald Trump’s campaign for the presidency, he often maligned the JCPOA, calling it the ‘worst deal ever’ and vowing to withdraw from it. Despite the pleas of the other nations that are a party to the JCPOA, he finally did so, after certifying compliance during the first year of his administration…

It must be noted that Trump didn’t withdraw as a result of any violation of the terms by Iran…

As a result, the U.S. is re-imposing the sanctions that were to have been lifted with the signing of the agreement…

…An international agreement entered into by the United States, as represented by the president, is binding. If this was a bad deal, it was only so for Iran, since the U.S. was not bound to remove the sanctions it issued, despite what the deal said. So while the other nations involved were honest and direct, the U.S., as is its custom, was not.

In proposing additional sanctions, this document once again singles out the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO)…

The rationale behind this seems to be that if things get bad enough in Iran due to U.S. sanctions, the people of Iran will rise up against their own government.

“Don’t Laugh : It’s Giving Putin What He Wants” by Caitlin Johnstone (Rogue Journalist)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

The BBC has published an article titled “How Putin’s Russia turned humour into a weapon” about the Kremlin’s latest addition to its horrifying deadly hybrid warfare arsenal: comedy.

The article is authored by Olga Robinson, whom the BBC, unhindered by any trace of self-awareness, has titled “Senior Journalist (Disinformation)”. Robinson demonstrates the qualifications and acumen which earned her that title by warning the BBC’s audience that the Kremlin has been using humor to dismiss and ridicule accusations that have been leveled against it by western governments, a “form of trolling” that she reports is designed to “deliberately lower the level of discussion”…

Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the emergence of a demented media environment wherein everything around the world from French protests to American culture wars to British discontent with the European Union gets blamed on Russia without any facts or evidence. Wherein BBC reporters now correct guests and caution them against voicing skepticism of anti-Russia narratives because the UK is in “an information war” with that nation…

The fact of the matter is that humorous lampooning of western establishment Russia narratives writes itself. The hypocrisy is so cartoonish, the emotions are so breathlessly over-the-top, the stories so riddled with plot holes and the agendas underlying them so glaringly obvious that they translate very easily into laughs.

Doug Ford

“Fooling the People – Six months of Doug Ford” by Mark Calzavara (Council of Canadians)

An excerpt from the above linked-to blog post follows:

==== =

Here are just a few of the major initiatives the PCO government has undertaken that they never said anything about during the election campaign:

Passed a law to cut Toronto City Council in half
Threatened to use the notwithstanding clause of the constitution to trump any court rulings against their agenda
cut three critical independent commissioner’s offices that hold the government accountable- the Environment Commissioner, the Child and Youth Advocate and the French Language Commissioner
removed the independence of the six remaining offices by taking away the power of the legislature as a whole to appoint and dismiss them and giving that power to the government caucus
cancelled a new French language university,
cut in half the scheduled increases to disability support payments
fired the province`s Chief Scientist
repealed regulations that protected consumers from the monopoly of wireless communications providers
cancelled highly effective GreenON energy retrofit programs
put new police oversight rules on hold
cancelled $100 million in much needed repairs to schools
changed daycare regulations to allow many more children per caregiver
cut funding for the Ontario College of Midwives

Broken Promises

they broke their promise to not cut the Basic Income Guarantee pilot project
they broke their promise not to open the Greenbelt lands up for development
they broke their promise to not cancel any rent controls
they broke their promise to order a line-by-line audit of government spending, and make the results public
they even broke their promise of buck a beer (not a very important promise but “PROMISE MADE PROMISE BROKEN” nevertheless

The above is exactly what should have been expected considering how Doug was an ally (and brother) of former Toronto mayor Rob Ford. Remember Rob Ford? The following might refresh your memory:
