Professional Scam Artists – part 31

John Bolton

“Bolton’s Spiteful Attempt to Wreck Syria’s Recovery” by David Macilwain (American Herald Tribune)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

[=-
Amongst the many things said about the proposed US troop withdrawal from Syria, one stands out for its sheer “chutzpah”… John Bolton issued a warning notice to the Syrian Government – they should not see the US troop withdrawal as an invitation to use chemical weapons, again.

It is tempting to dismiss this exceptionally disingenuous and shameless megaphone diplomacy as just another desperate attempt to pressurise US allies into resisting President Trump’s pull-out plan. We’ve already had “ISIS will come back”, “ISIS hasn’t gone yet” and “but what about us?” from Kurds and Yazidis, while the US’ European allies have struggled to oppose the pull-out without appearing to want the fighting to go on. But all those excuses have no substance, based as they are on the idea that it is the US coalition that has been fighting ISIS and has finally won the battle.

The reality, of course, is entirely different, with mounting evidence that the US’ main reason and role for staying in Syria is to prevent the Syrian government from liberating the areas still under the control of IS and other anti-government groups.

Justin Trudeau

“Canada Tries to Use International Law to Support Imperialism” by Yves Engler (Canadian Dimension via American Herald Tribune)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

)o)
Like the shopkeeper in the Monty Python dead parrot sketch who insists a deceased bird is actually alive, imperialist aggression against Venezuela is turned into promotion of the “international rules-based order”.

At the opening of the UN assembly in September Justin Trudeau said the International Criminal Court is a “useful and important way of promoting an international rules-based order.” Simultaneously, Canada announced it (with five South American nations) would ask the ICC to investigate the Venezuelan government, which is the first time a government has been formally brought before the tribunal by another member.

Liberal officials and the sycophantic media portrayed Canada’s move to bring Caracas before the ICC as a challenge to the US. Evan Dyer reported, “Government sources told CBC that Canada’s decision to refer Venezuela is also meant as a show of support for the ICC, an institution this country believes in that is under attack” from the Trump administration…

Unfortunately, some people are willing to buy a dead bird for a pet, the proof of which is that the “international rules-based” ICC Trudeau is promoting has previously been employed to enable violations of international law…

A 2017 Der Spiegel English investigation titled “The Ocampo Affair A Former ICC Chief’s Dubious Links” notes, “Ocampo’s correspondence shows that he made agreements with the French and the British, and behaved as part of the anti-Gadhafi coalition.”

A forerunner to the ICC, the Canadian-backed International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) helped justify NATO’s illegal 78-day bombing of Serbia…

In a 2000 article titled “Louise Arbour: Unindicted War Criminal” Christopher Black and Edward Herman write, “Arbour and the Tribunal thus present us with the amazing spectacle of an institution supposedly organized to contain, prevent, and prosecute for war crimes actually knowingly facilitating them.”
(o(

Once Trudeau gets his way here (I believe he now has), the abuse of Venezuela that that will represent will be one (more) that perfectly meshes with what Donald Trump wants for Venezuela and all States that resist absorption into the global dicatorship of the US.

David Brock

“Clinton Crony Says Bernie Supporters Must Be Silenced For 2020 Primaries” by Caitlin Johnstone (Rogue Journalist)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

====:-
Well, like it or not the dust has barely settled from the November midterms and the 2020 presidential race is already underway. Campaigns are being launched, names are being floated, “Gosh look what an ordinary person I am!” videos are being live streamed from politicians’ kitchens, and we are already seeing many of the same toxic patterns from 2016 resurfacing from many of the same toxic people.

NBC News has published an op-ed by Republican political strategist-turned Clinton advisor and Dem strategist David Brock titled “Bernie Sanders’ fans can’t be allowed to poison another Democratic primary with personal attacks — Bashing Beto O’Rourke (and every other Democrat) doesn’t help liberals’ cause in 2020. It only helps Trump.” The article explicitly blames Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump on supporters of Bernie Sanders who criticized her during the primary, and makes it clear that such criticisms must be forcefully and aggressively fought against this time around.

Brenda Snipes

“Opinion: In A Sane World Brenda Snipes Would Be In Prison, Not Reinstated” by Elizabeth Vos (Disobedient Media)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

==== == =
Some readers might be thoroughly – and rightly – sick of reading about the ongoing litany of Brenda Snipes’s corruption. After the former Broward County elections supervisor went unprosecuted for her multiple felonies spanning at least two elections, she now has the gall to add insult to injury by playing the victim for being ousted by Florida’s Governor, Rick Scott. Days ago, Snipes reportedly pleaded with a Federal judge, claiming that she was the victim of unfair “targeting” by Scott…

Tim Canova, as readers will recall, ran against Debbie Wasserman-Schultz as an independent in the November midterms, after previously running against her in a Democratic primary race. Canova responded to this latest news via social media, saying:

“If Brenda Snipes is reinstated as Broward Elections Supervisor instead of arrested for illegally tampering with evidence and willfully destroying ballots (multiple felonies!!!), can we please stop pretending we have any semblance of a democracy, the rule of law, or real elections?”

Since this latest news emerged, some have postulated that Snipes’s appeal may be motivated by a desire to ensure that she receives her pension. Regardless of her ultimate motivation, it is important that the public is informed of the depth and breadth of Snipes’s betrayal of the public she was appointed to serve…

Disobedient Media previously reported that Canova contested the results of the race, and an amended complaint filed by Canova in December makes it astoundingly clear that Snipes should not be in a position to argue for reinstatement, but in a sane world would be defending herself in a court of law on multiple felony counts. The complaint, first reported by Big League Politics, also details Snipes’s previous felonious acts in the 2016 primary race between Canova and Schultz:

“… It is beyond reasonable dispute that Snipes has long engaged in demonstrable misconduct in connection with elections in Broward County, including misconduct in the 2018 General Election that is sufficient to change or at least place in doubt the results reported by Snipes in the 2018 General Election for Florida’s 23rd Congressional District.”

“… Snipes engaged in a repeated pattern of obstruction, deception, and ultimately unlawful conduct in the destruction of all the ballots cast in the 2016 primary… On May 11, 2018, the Florida Circuit Court granted Plaintiff Canova summary judgment, and found that Snipes had violated numerous state and federal statutes, including laws punishable as felonies with up to five years in prison. The Court’s ruling made clear that Snipes’ destruction of ballots was illegal on several separate counts… Violations of the federal statute are punishable by up to a year in prison. Violations of the state statute are punishable as felonies by up to five years in prison.”

“Americans Need a Congress that Represents Americans” by Paul Craig Roberts (Dissident Voice)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

\\\
US Senator Marco Rubio poses as a representative of Florida Republicans, but in truth he represents the interests of Israel. He is sponsor of legislation that punishes Americans who boycott Israel as their way of protesting Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people. That Rubio is doing his best to dismantle what little is left of the First Amendment doesn’t seem to bother Florida voters or the presstitute media, who are no longer protective of the First Amendment.

Yesterday (January 9, 2019) the legislation failed to pass the Senate, because Democrats blocked it. But not really…. The reason the Democrats blocked the passage of the bill is that they are making a point that no legislation will pass until President Trump gives in on the issue of The Wall and signs the necessary money bill to reopen the government.
///

Paul Craig Roberts also wrote that “It is OK with the US Congress for Americans to finance Israel’s construction of a wall that keeps a people out of their own country, but it is not OK for Trump to use American money to keep illegal immigrants out of the United States.” Technically he is right and he certainly makes a good point, but I just wish he had taken the opportunity to alert readers to the fact that, for the most part, the illegal immigrants shouldn’t be illegal – while policies of the US government and its fascist allies cause these huge waves of suffering humanity to sweep over lands everywhere.

“President Trump’s Losing Strategy: Embracing Brazil and Confronting China” by James Petras (Axis of Logic)

An excerpt from the above linked-to article follows:

||=
Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro from day one, has announced a program to reverse nearly a century of state directed economic growth…

In contrast to previous elected civilian regimes which strove – not always successfully – to increase pensions, wages and living standards and recognized labor legislation, President Bolsonaro has promised to fire thousands of public sector employees, reduce pensions and increase retirement age while lowering salaries and wages in order to increase profits and lower costs to capitalists.

President Bolsonaro promises to reverse land reform, expel, arrest and assault peasant households in order to re-instate landlords and encourage foreign investors in their place. The deforestation of the Amazon and its handover to cattle barons and land speculators will include the seizure of millions of acres of indigenous land…

Unlike Brazil, China is not prepared to submit to economic plunder and to surrender its sovereignty. China is following its own long-term strategy which focuses on developing the most advanced sectors of the economy – including cutting edge electronics and communication technology.

Chinese researchers already produce more patents and referred scientific articles than the US. They graduate more engineers, advanced researchers and innovative scientists than the US based on high levels of state funding. China with an investment rate of over 44% in 2017, far surpasses the US. China has advanced, from low to high value added exports including electrical cars at competitive prices. For example, Chinese cell phones are out competing Apple in both price and quality.

China has opened its economy to US multi-national corporations in exchange for access to advanced technology, what Washington dubs as ‘forced’ seizures…

The US has an easy path to dominating Brazil for short-term gains – profits, markets and resources, but the Brazilian model is not viable or sustainable. In contrast the US needs to negotiate, bargain and agree to reciprocal competitive agreements with China. The end result of cooperating with China would allow the US to learn and grow in a sustainable fashion.

Scam artist Trump calls ‘market access games’ ‘forced seizures’. William Greider wrote about all of this many years ago in his awesome book titled “One World, Ready Or Not.” All multinationals play market access games, which are only possible with governments’ assistance. Trump’s bluster is in line with the military-industrial complex sector of capitalism, but not necessarily other sectors. In any case, In the US-led Corporatocracy, Donald Trump isn’t the leader. He’s a tool. The US ruling class is conflicted but probably too bloody-minded to do not only what’s in China’s and Brazil’s best interest but also what’s in its own best interest. As the prophet Daniel said about the American component of the wild beast of Corporatocracy, “he will broken without human hand.” The wild beast that ascends out of the earth, aka the false prophet, has been blashpheming God, calling to him to “Bring it!” And he will. When he acts, visibly and irresistably, he will not only mete out justice to that enemy of life, but he will proceed, through the agency of his glorified Son, to completely destroy this Godless system of things. The lesson of universal sovereignty has been fairly learned. There’s no further need for it and for the allowance, therefore, of the incredible destruction wrought by God’s enemies.
